1. TRAFFIC RULES AND
REGULATIONS
1.1.
STICKERS
1.1.1. All faculty, staff and students who
wish to drive a vehicle on campus are required to register the vehicle with
the Security Office and to obtain an identification sticker for each
vehicle.
1.1.2. Stickers are issued at the
beginning of each academic year. The fee, renewal dates and place of issue
are announced in advance.
1.1.3. A sticker for a second vehicle may
be issued at the discretion of the Head of the Traffic Committee. The fee
for additional stickers is determined by the Traffic Committee and is set
at a rate higher than the standard fee.
1.1.4. The sticker must be affixed to the
upper left corner of the windshield in an easily visible position.
1.1.5. Should the vehicle be sold, or the
sticker be damaged, the sticker should be returned to the Security Office. As
long as the previous sticker is returned, a new one will be issued free of
charge. For drivers who fail to return the old sticker, a new sticker may
be issued at the discretion of the Head of the Traffic Committee. The fee
for a new sticker in this case is determined by the Traffic Committee and
is set at a rate higher than the standard fee.
1.1.6.Students staying at the University
Dormitories are required to register their vehicle and sticker serial
number with the Dormitory Administration.
1.1.7. Visitors to campus must leave an
official ID card and obtain a guest vehicle card at the entrance. The guest vehicle card must be carried at
the lower left corner of the windshield at a visible position and returned
when leaving the campus.
1.2.
PARKING LOTS
1.2.1. The parking lots on campus and the
capacity of each are shown on the maps attached to this booklet.
1.2.2. There are separate parking lots for
academic-administrative staff, student-alumni and visitors. Staff parking
lots may only be used by vehicles bearing an appropriate sticker.
1.2.3. Drivers are required to park in
marked spaces and follow the signs for exit and entrance to avoid accidents.
1.2.4. Motorcycles and bicycles may only
be left in the parking spaces assigned for them.
1.2.5. Under no circumstances may vehicles
park or drive on pavements or pedestrian walkways.
1.2.6. The University is not responsible
for theft or similar incidents taking place in parking lots.
1.3.
SPEED
LIMITS
1.3.1. The speed limit between the Ankara
– Eskişehir highway bridge and Bilkent campus entrances is 50 km/h.
1.3.2. On campus, as indicated by
signposts, the speed limit is 50km/h, dropping to 30km/h when approaching
intersections. All vehicles are under radar observation throughout the
campus.
1.4.
RIGHT OF WAY FOR PEDESTRIANS
Drivers must slow down at pedestrian crossings
and stop if there is someone approaching or waiting to cross.
1.5.
OTHER RULES
1.5.1. The following are forbidden on campus:

Using the horn and playing loud music.
·
Throwing rubbish from vehicles
·
Forming convoys
·
Driving vehicles with a defective exhaust system, creating smoke and/or
noise.
1.5.2. Drivers of motorcycles are required
to wear helmets.
1.5.3. Bilkent University Identity Cards
must be shown when getting on university service buses. When exiting,
passengers must use the rear door.
